Description
Use this silicone Cable Termination Mold along with the Cobalt Series Cable Termination Kit to make a professional-looking potted termination on your cable. Three sizes of molds are available:
- COB-3300 for Regular termination kit and 6.0- 6.5 mm diameter cables
- COB-3310 for Regular termination kit and 4.2- 6.0 mm diameter cables
- COB-3320 for Large termination kit and 6.5- 7.8 mm diameter cables
In most cases, you will need one mold for each termination.
To use the mold, slide it onto the cable before terminating the cable. Then push the mold onto the end of the connector shell and inject with epoxy. You can either inject the epoxy using a needle that slides under the lip of the mold, or you can use a sharp needle pushed through the mold. Inject the epoxy until it completely fills the mold and runs out from under the lip of the mold (because the mold is transparent, you will see it filling with epoxy). Then remove the needle and clean off any excess epoxy. Once the epoxy has cured, carefully cut the mold off with wire cutters and discard it.
